The best productivity tool is the one you don't have to think about.
That's why Quilence integrates with iOS Focus Mode. You can configure it so that when you activate your Work focus, Quilence starts playing your favorite preset automatically. When you leave Work focus, it stops. Zero friction. Zero decisions.
How to set it up:
- Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
- Go to Focus, then select the Focus mode you want (Work, Study, Sleep, or any custom Focus)
- Scroll down to "Focus Filters" and tap "Add Filter"
- Find Quilence in the list and select it
- Choose which preset to play when this Focus activates
From then on, when you swipe into Work Focus from Control Center, or it activates on a schedule, Quilence starts playing automatically.
Why this matters.
The research on decision fatigue is clear. Every small choice you make during the day — what to listen to, whether to open an app, which preset to pick — depletes the same cognitive resources you need for actual work. Automation removes these micro-decisions.
Cal Newport, who popularized the concept of deep work, argues that environmental design is one of the most powerful levers for sustained concentration. By linking Quilence to your Focus Mode, you're building noise masking directly into your environment — it becomes as automatic as your office lights turning on.
Some configurations I like:
-
Sleep Focus with the Sleep preset and a 60-minute timer. Quilence starts at bedtime and fades out on its own.
-
Study Focus with ADHD Relief or Speech Blocker. Activate before a session and forget about it.
-
Personal Focus with Gentle Mix. Switches on when you're off the clock.
Quilence also supports Lock Screen Widgets and Control Center toggles, so there are other ways to start playback without opening the app. But Focus Mode is the one where you set it up once and never think about it again.
