Version 1.0.4: Seamless Audio & macOS Polish

Quilence 1.0.4 is my biggest update yet, featuring a completely redesigned audio engine that eliminates volume dips, plus extensive macOS polish that makes Quilence feel truly native on your Mac.

Seamless Audio Looping

The sound you love, without interruption.

If you've ever noticed a subtle volume dip every 20 seconds or so, that's now a thing of the past. I've completely rebuilt the audio engine using a technique inspired by professional noise generators:

• A/B Overlap System: Two audio buffers play simultaneously with 50% overlap
• Equal-Power Crossfade: Mathematical precision ensures constant combined volume (sin² + cos² = 1)
• More Variation: Uses both A and B audio variants for richer, more natural sound
• Perfect Timing: Completion-handler based scheduling eliminates drift

The result? Truly continuous, seamless white noise that never dips, stutters, or loops noticeably. Whether you're sleeping, focusing, or masking tinnitus, the audio stays perfectly constant.

macOS Dock Integration

Control Quilence without opening the window.

Right-click the Quilence icon in your Dock and you'll find powerful new controls:

• Play/Pause: Toggle playback instantly
• Current Preset: See what's playing at a glance
• Presets Menu: Switch presets without opening the app
• Sleep Timer: Set a timer from the Dock menu
• Volume Indicator: Quick volume reference

The Dock icon itself now shows real-time status:

• Green dot: Audio is playing
• Timer ring: Visual progress when sleep timer is active

Accessibility Support

Quilence for everyone.

I've made Quilence fully accessible:

• All controls have descriptive labels
• Hints explain complex interactions
• Selected states announced correctly
• Full keyboard navigation support

Reduce Motion

• Respects system "Reduce Motion" preference
• Disables animations when enabled
• Static shader mode for energy saving

Liquid Glass Design

Native macOS 26 aesthetics.

On macOS 26 (Sequoia) and later, Quilence now uses Apple's native .glassEffect() modifier for that beautiful frosted glass appearance. Older macOS versions gracefully fall back to the familiar material design.

The new design appears in:

• Preset sidebar
• Spatial Audio inspector
• Content cards

Siri Shortcuts

"Hey Siri, play Brown Noise with Quilence"

Control Quilence entirely with your voice! Full Siri Shortcuts integration lets you:

• Start/Stop: "Hey Siri, play Quilence" or "Hey Siri, stop Quilence"
• Play Presets: "Hey Siri, play Brown Noise with Quilence"
• Works on Both Platforms: iOS and macOS support
• Cold Start Support: Commands work even when the app isn't running

You can also find Quilence shortcuts in the Shortcuts app to create automations - like automatically starting your sleep preset at bedtime.

Energy Saving Mode

Save battery during extended sessions.

Found in Settings > Display, the new Energy Saving toggle renders the animated blackhole shader as a single static frame. This significantly reduces energy usage during long focus or sleep sessions.

The setting also automatically activates when your system's "Reduce Motion" preference is enabled.
